Interest Groups

The sangha is just beginning to form shared interest groups that address topics of particular interest to some members. If you’re interested in forming a dharma study or Kalyana Mitta group, you may contact any member of the Guiding Committee to discuss how we can assist. (Click here for SIMS’ excellent description of how SIMS organizes Kalyana Mitta groups.)

Women in Buddhism

Description:

We are a group of dharma buddies exploring the topic “Women in Buddhism” through reading, study, practice, and sharing.  These explorations are beginning to take a cyclical form where the group closes to explore a topic intimately for a period of time, then opens again to new members for the next cycle of inquiry and sharing.

Meeting time:

Once a month for two hours, at our different homes in Port Townsend.

Contact:

Interested women may contact Renee at (360) 774-1859 for information.  She will keep your name and you will be notified at the opening of the next cycle.  Meanwhile, we recommend reading the book Cave in the Snow, a biography of Tenzin Palmo’s quest for enlightenment, which spurred the formation of the group.  Copies are available in the sangha, city, and county libraries.
